I've had an idea for awhile. I'm going to be getting a 1997 nissan silvia which I was hoping to put a t5 turbo on.
But, t5's aren't very cheap nor is the conversion kit. (almost 2,000. Being a college student, that's probably gonna be a negative. but, I was thinking of buying a dc to ac power inverter and rigging up a shop vac motor to my intake. What you said about overkilling or choking your engine was right. But that's assuming that the turbo is constantly running. Not so much with my idea. with my idea, you could put a switch in the power line on one of these electronic turbos or if you're friggin crazy like me, a shop vac motor. this way, when you're windin out into the 5500 range, you can hit the switch and lay on it hard. at low idle, it is dangerous to have that running so I think a switch in the line would solve that.
